The Thursday Think Tank - #35 Shadows

Shadow Garbage photos are from Environmental Graffiti
Created by British artists Tim Noble and Sue Webster

"Most people think that shadows follow, precede or surround beings or objects. The truth is that they also surround words, ideas, desires, deeds, impulses and memories."

What lurks in your shadows? Remember a shadow is not always a bad thing. There are many summer days here in Texas where I run for the coolness and comfort of shadow cast by a tall building or an old oak tree. It is a constant companion and sometimes protection. As seen in the photos above shadows can be amazing art. Love and beauty can hide in the shadows.

There is the gruff 5 o’clock shadow that some women love and others hate on their men. And of course everyone knows that there is dark, gloomy and dreary aspect to shadows that I need not expand upon. Take a little time and think about what the shadows around you represent. Look at your surroundings and see what shadows inspire in your imagination.

Once you have decided what to write about please come back and share you word paintings with us, shadows and all.

If you have a prompt idea (even a Music or Film inspired one) that you would like to suggest or share with us please send it to poetsunited@ymail.com . We keep a folder set aside with all your suggestions and just might use it one day.

There 3 simple rules:
