Poetry Pantry #311

Japan Nature Photos
by Totomai Martinez

Greetings and Happy Sunday to you all!  And welcome to another Poetry Pantry and also to another set of Totomai's wonderful, breathtaking photos.  What talent he has, doesn't he?

This past week we had some excellent features.   If you haven't read Sherry's interview of Bjorn, please check back, as it is an interview not to miss.  And if you have not yet seen Rosemary's wonderful tribute to Viv Blake, check back as well.  Viv had the foresight to write her own epitaph.  Makes me wonder how many of us poets have done that.  And, thanks to all who participated in Sumana's "absence" prompt this past week.

Looking ahead, tomorrow you can read Sherry's interview of Tarang Sinha, who has been participating here at Poetrs United for a while.  And, on Wednesday Susan's prompt is "Suffrage, the Right to Vote" which is a very timely and thought-provoking prompt for us to contemplate.

With no delay, let's share poetry.  Link your one poem below.  Stop in and say hello in the comments.  Visit other poets who link.  I will have a busy Sunday so may perhaps not comment on many of you early in the day, but at night I will return for visits.  Have a joyful and poetic week ahead!

  8. Totomai's photos are magnificent. I don't want to stop looking at the first picture--so gloriously red! And those tulips are just glorious.

  13. As I read through poems today, I am struck by the effect that the world events - such as the dreadful attack in Nice - have had on our poetry. So many of us have written serious, somber poems....reflecting a broken spirit.

  17. Sadly, Mary, the past 2 months of violence, has strongly influenced the poem that I ma sharing. Also, has post culture references, with the title, referring back, the 1980s, and comic books, which was one of the ways, I kept my hopes up, during my violence teenage years.

  18. Almost every day this week, I have sat to write something, anything. But nothing emerges. I'm dry. My muse is comatose. So today, once again, I'm entering an older poem. Hope that's ok. I'm sure poetry will awaken in me soon. Have a great week Mary.
    Love the pictures!

  20. Mary, and all the beautiful people here...
Sorry for not reading all the great “writes” this past week, but I have been sleeping more than I am awake. I look forward to catching up on my reading as soon as I have the strength… and intelligence to appreciate the creativity /works submitted into the “Pantry”. A friend is forwarding into the Pantry my notes… as I have insisted they be posted here first.

  22. Oh, those photos are such a treat! Sorry I'm a bit late saying so and a bit late reading some people's poems. Just getting over a heavy cold.

  23. Oh darn! I missed this by 7 hours! I have been busy with Ninja (my new baby kitten) and so much more has been happening offline I've found it hard to keep up lately. I did catch up on my reading though and am relieved about that. Today when I looked at CP I wondered why there were no new comments. Lol! Next week for sure!

Am trying a water aerobics class tomorrow and look forward to it.

I hope everyone at PU has the best week ever!

    Hugs! Bekkie
