Imagine, for the first time, a good number of important British poets were soldiers writing about their war experiences. October is one of my favourite months and its essence has been conveyed in the poem. I like that the green elm has only one great bough of gold' - it's not perfect - and love the small details of:<br />'...the mushrooms small milk-white,<br />Harebell and scabious and tormentil,<br />That blackberry and gorse, in dew and sun',<br />and the gossamers that wander at their own will.<br />Kim M.
