The ugly that is beautiful
It seems poetry is one of the best places to beautify the otherwise drab or disgusting. As poets we have the creative ability to turn the ugly into the beautiful and amazing. We romanticize death, give shape and allure to the simplest of things, we bring life and beauty to the cobwebs.
Have you ever looked at or considered something beautiful that most others find hideous? My fiancĂ© and I recently painted and decorated our guest bathroom and most folks think it’s horrible, the rest kindly try to wash their hands quickly after doing the deed and choose not to comment (personally we like those responses the best because it’s fun to watch them squirm and try to be kind). We know its offensive to the eye but that’s part of the beauty for us.
What do you consider beautiful in life that gets neglected or thought of as disgusting? Take this week’s prompt and paint a verbal picture of beauty. Make the beast handsome, show us that age is elegance, bring light into the dark dusty room. You are the poet who paints beauty and we can’t wait to see what inspires your canvass.
This is a beat up Garage poem full of dust and grease.
BalasPadamLoved the prompt!
BalasPadamI have linked in a poem about aged couple.
BalasPadamstarting with a slightly used one... :)
BalasPadamI loosely based this poem on a novel I read in high school.

I wrote three short poems a few days ago. I don't think it is much of a stretch to say there is ugliness and beauty in each one. Tell me what you think.
BalasPadamMy poem is written with something of a 'social conscience'.
BalasPadamThe people we all see every day, in every city in the world.
The human faces, we usually turn away from....
Especially as winter approaches..

Phew that was hard~
BalasPadamI wrote a fresh one about a girl fight that I once broke up. The key poetic inspiration was how the fight was described as beautiful.
BalasPadamThis one deserves attention. I will take some time to reflect.
BalasPadamOllie - yours sounds so interesting, can't wait to finish mine so that I can visit yours!
