I do ask for some input from the poet when possible, and/or they refer me to their other online links.Rosemary Nissen-Wadehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05913841031559499568noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4139625267522039683.post-84400748549133332212015-11-14T17:57:37.064-05:002015-11-14T17:57:37.064-05:00This post was scheduled well in advance of the pos...This post was scheduled well in advance of the posting date. Paris where it seems evil is determined to rise in full and ugly glory once again. This is, of course, a magnum opus - it will stay with me a long time. I suppose I need to come back and read it again on a day when I'm more open to that proposition. Thanks Rosemary.S.E.Ingrahamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02135141369161538082noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4139625267522039683.post-66167997607182978142015-11-13T23:22:46.831-05:002015-11-13T23:22:46.831-05:00Thank you to Susan and Sherry who were able to art...Thank you to Susan and Sherry who were able to articulate words still stuck in my heart - I cannot even cry - the "moving mound" the myriad images of inhuman indifference and murder have stunned me - the writing yes "visceral" and "seared" into my soul to fall into a waiting abyss of such terror. Thank you Rosemary for this interview - I was not familiar with Brendan's work nor the noble work of the righteous priest Father Desbois. On this night when blood runs in the streets of Paris and terror stuns so many it is wonderful to know that such testimony is taken, recorded and archived in the City of Light and that ultimately light does shine in the darkest corners . Thank you again ... I will be sharing this exquisite interview. (Will go back and edit in a minute.) It'...It took me a while to write this comment. It's hard enough to live with Nazi atrocities in matter of fact plain language, but what Brendan does here is, as Sherry said, searing. I've had occasion to be blown away by Oran's Well before, Brendan--and Rosemary, your odyssey among his poems makes perfect sense to me, This one takes us into our own world and time, not a mythic past or pastoral present. I'm glad he wrote it, though, and not I. I haven't learned yet to write about something that hurts so much. Lord knows that I am trying to take that kind of risk. Meanwhile, thank you to you two who can dive to the depths and then stick around to invite us in. The poem, of course, is visceral and sears itself into one's consciousness - the image of that moving mound will be with me a long while. Also, I did not know Brendan's background, which increases my interest in his poetry, working as he does in humanitarian recognition of the atrocities. Rosemary, thank you for bringing this important poem and poet to our increased attention. Now THERE is a poet to interview, if ever there was one!
