Hello, it is me, Ella. For now, I am giving Robb a helping hand. When I think of home, the quote "Home is where the heart is." by~Pliny The Elder, comes to mind. Being a military spouse, I have moved a lot. This quote is more fitting of my lifestyle, "Home is where you hang your hat." It is an English proverb.
What images arrive when you think of "Home"? Is it your childhood home, walls that protect your heart? Maybe it is your first apartment, when you were on your own, or perhaps the first home you bought, or the one you are in now?! Home can mean many things. Pen a poem about your home. We can't wait to visit you and see home through your eyes.
If you have a prompt idea (even a Music or Film inspired one) that you would like to suggest or share with us please send it to poetsunited@ymail.com . We keep a folder set aside with all your suggestions and just might use it one day.
There 3 simple rules:
1. Don’t link to more than 3 poems per week.
2. Please visit some of the other poems linked here when you link to yours.
3. Leave a comment after you have posted your link.
Beautiful picture!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Thursday Think Tank!!
ReplyDeleteHi Tarang-Thanks for reminding me! The credit for the photo goes to hulka over at Deviant Art.

It is called Home Again! It is magical isn't it~
I just saw the prompt! Too bizarre. Last night I watched Little House on the Prairie with my kids, and one line caught my heart. Pa said, 'let's go home' and Laura replied, 'Home, the most beautiful word there is'. It inspired the poems I posted this morning before I saw the prompt:)) I love it:))
ReplyDeleteI was tending to my garden today, painted my really old Ikea rattan chair black (it was white and dirty) and gave a quick paint job to the front gate.
ReplyDeletePlus I did the normal planting, repotting, weeding routine. And I was thinking, I love this home of mine.
And here is your prompt!
Are you psychic?
Just wanted to say thanks for all the work you've been doing on the sidebar listing. I know it must be frustrating. Well done!
ReplyDeleteIs anyone else livid?!!! The new, improved 'prove you are not a robot' thing makes commenting an absolute head-ache! I would love to comment but I cannot figure out WHAT THE HECK some of those words are and it keeps rejecting my attempts! How does one ask blogger to please make it more user-friendly?
ReplyDeleteYours truly,
Frustrated. To those of you whom I read but gave up on the commenting bit, Thank-you for all the brilliant and heart-warming poems!
Happy 2 days after Valentines Day Poets!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this! I'll be back later to read others' responses...late for a meeting just now. And Janet I also loathe the new 'prove your're human' letters! Very hard to decipher.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the prompt and for inspiring this limerick: Homing Limerick
ReplyDeleteThis prompt made me think, but not in a way I expected.
ReplyDeleteThis prompt made me a bit sad
ReplyDeleteI looking forward to your poems! Robb is doing a great job; he is just swamped right now. He did a great job, with the Blog Roll. I am helping out,on the Think Tank Thursday prompts, for now.
ReplyDeleteWinterWrites It made me a bit sad, too. My childhood home was sold a few months ago. Yes, I am psychic; now you know ;D
Poets United ans Ella,
ReplyDeleteI loved writing about this prompt. Home is where my heart is!!!
Eileen
Janet, I just got a "robocop" prompt with pi in it. The symbol!! I almost typed 3.17 to see what would happen... anyway thanks for today's prompt. Fun as always.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture and thanks so much for the prompt
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you liked the prompt! I just finished mine, phew it was hard! I never write before the prompt, always after. I think I went too long on this one, but I enjoyed all the thoughts of home that arrived!
ReplyDeleteElla - arrived late... oooh picture was something that completely resonated with an inner sense of "home'... just a little short one... but prompt was wonderful and brought a sense of well-being that I tried to quickly hold and share... Thank you! Will read more later.
ReplyDeleteElla do you have any idea why I'm appearing as a black triangle when I post to certain people and not others? HELP?
ReplyDeleteI agree with what some others are saying about that captcha thingie. It's made it ten times harder to understand them than they used to be and I can see it will deter a lot of people from leaving any comments on blogger blogs. It was so much easier before they went ahead and made these new not improved changes. Hope I'm now back on your blogroll too. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThis prompt brought up so many moments in time that I have not thought about in a while.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for my trip. Mine is posted.
Sara-I hope yours was a pleasant journey back in time. I will be by soon to see :D
ReplyDeleteBren-It is terrible, hard on the eyes and discouraging comments. Makes me sad...
Pearl-I suspect it is this:

WinterWrites and Kat, I am sorry it made you sad. It made me both~

ReplyDeleteEveryday love with a tinge of sadness.....http://www.gyanban.com/2012/02/everyday-love.html
ReplyDeleteIt's not a typical "home" poem but it does sum up home for me ... and I guess that's the point, yes?
ReplyDeletehttp://theblogamist.wordpress.com/2012/02/20/what-i-love-about-leaving/
i refer to my home in the broadest sense. {smile}
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo and prompt! Thank you!

Beautiful photo indeed. Thanks for this interesting page and prompts. I linked here one of my old poems, a little sad, not so warm and delicate like your picture...mostly about aging and solitude, still about a home.
