There is a poem at the end of the world
it is by an unpublished poet
it is not a war poem or a political poem
it is not obscure and not divisive
it is a poem of the heart not the hand.
it is the poem many have tried to write
but only a lone poet has achieved
it is the poem that gives universal hope
but does not drip with maple syrup
it is the poem I wish I had written.
Actually, Mary, I think you just wrote that poem. It really says it all - what we feel when we tap the keys or pick up the pen - wanting to express that elusive thought, not always as clearly as we wish. But at least we try! I love this poem. Especially "There is a poem at the end of the world...." Beautiful!
"Thank you" is not enough words, Mary, for all that you do to keep Poets United alive and thriving. We appreciate you so much.
Do come back to see who we talk to next, my friends. Who knows? It might be you!!
Yes, both clever and expressive, both yearning and calm. Thank you, Mary and Sherry.
BalasPadamThank YOU, Susan!!

Cheers to you too, Grace. Thank you!
PadamYou have written very aptly about the poem we'd all wish we could once write, Mary - a poem that would be speak to people across oceans and languages. Thank you to you and the other members of the Poets United team for all the hard work and unfailing encouragement.
BalasPadamThank you, Gabriella. Yes, I do think we all want to write THAT poem.
PadamBeautiful. I only dream that I can write with such clarity and talent.

BalasPadamThanks, Karen. That is high praise.
Padamwell, we are always trying to write the next best poem. :)
BalasPadami think Mary has nailed the craft of writing neatly. a poem must be from the heart and i like the part that says "does not drip with maple syrup" (though a touch of sweetness now and then is nice).
much is achieved in those ten lines, and i am glad i didn't missed it.
and Sherry, another great post. :)
dsnake, thanks for appreciating the intricacies of my poem. And I agree a touch of sweetness can be nice. Smiles!
PadamThanks Mary. You speak for all of us. I loved this poem when I first read it, and i enjoyed it again now.

Thanks, Myrna. You are always so very supportive!
BalasPadamWritten from heart and with message, I guess for the end of the world for next generation! I love it! Thank you, Mary, you express the desire of all of us. :)xx
BalasPadamThank you, Humbird, that was my intent.
PadamLovely, Mary. You speak for me... I don't desire to be famous with my poetry but I cherish the one who says "Just what I feel, too. You touched my soul." Happens occasionally and that make it all worthwhile.
BalasPadamThank you! I am glad that you understand.
PadamBeautiful, beautiful writing, Mary!!
BalasPadamI'm so happy you all enjoyed this choice. I knew it would resonate with everyone, as it did with me. And thank you, Mary, for taking care of my Monday feature while I was away. I am back in the saddle, fatigued but happy, and am trying to Catch Up.
BalasPadamYes, thank you Mary and Sherry…two amazing women!
