Classic Poetry - "Music" by Percy Bysshe Shelley

Today I revisited the Classic Poetry post from July 14, listening to Natalie Merchant's evocative musical interpretations of poems past. Inspiring. Encouraging. So many things. I then recalled this Shelley poem and knew it had to be shared here, now.

Music
 
Music, when soft voices die,
Vibrates in the memory—
Odours, when sweet violets sicken,
Live within the sense they quicken.

   Rose leaves, when the rose is dead,
Are heaped for the belovèd's bed;
And so thy thoughts, when thou art gone,
Love itself shall slumber on.

Classic Poetry - (Ozymandias by Percy Bysshe Shelley)

Ozymandias


I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: "Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown
And wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed.
And on the pedestal these words appear:
`My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings:
Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!'
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,
The lone and level sands stretch far away".
