Pain
“We must embrace pain and burn it as fuel for our journey.”
~Kenji Miyazawa
The idea or concept of pain can cover a vast field of thoughts and emotions. It can be something as simple as a broken finger nail or something as deeply wounding as a heart ripped from your loving, beating chest. Pain is not always and easy topic to approach but it is a fact of life. All though we’d like the world to be nothing but positive we can’t only discuss the rainbows and unicorns. We must confront pain no matter how simple or hard it is. This week write about whatever pains you. Write about conquering pain. Write about a stubbed toe, a cut or a scar you have had since you were five years old. If all else fail write about the headache that just came on because you tried to think about this prompt.
Ha! A poem first thing this morning! Yay Poets United - you are inspiring me to WRITE!!!!!!!! Thank you all so much! Warning: my poem is depressing:)But we'll survive!
ReplyDeleteI'm combining prompts today, with one from Poetic Asides (which was to try out a Monotetra Style poem). Mine is called, Oblivion.

ReplyDeleteWar is pain at its worst, hurting everyone...benfiting none. I continue to wish fervently for universal peace...
ReplyDeleteAn interesting subject to write about.
ReplyDeleteRobert,
ReplyDeleteThis subject encompasses many facets. I had a poem already written, which is for me, concerned with an unending pain. That pain of having been a unloved child, now an adult with unanswered questions.

( I'm still on vacation!)
Theimaginativetraveller,
ReplyDeleteDitto! There are maany forms of pain. All make us more human, more emphatic, more determined for the search of sanctuary and cure.
Here's mine, Woman of a Certain Age!
ReplyDeleteThanks once again for a marvellous prompt, Robert.
ReplyDeleteMy poem is written about the time when I experienced real pain. Never before or since.
ReplyDeleteGreat prompt, pain....we all have some version. Why not write about it?
ReplyDelete- Dina
I love this topic and under normal circumstances could write a book of poetry just about pain, but for whatever reason I feel completely numb so I hope this poem is good enough. Thanks for reading!
ReplyDelete~Kristie (Just Me)

oops ! wrong post... may i repost?
ReplyDeletethis one was written some years ago... pain of struggle between the unequals...
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of going back and reworking older poems, have been writing them for about twenty-five years, and when I go back, often find things I've learned since then. So it is with the poem I've posted. Thanks for the opportunity,
ReplyDeleteElizabeth
Mine just came to me when I thought about the prompt. It seems to have a variety of possible meanings to me. I think I have joined Poets United but I am not sure. Anyway fun to participate with a group.
ReplyDeletePoem a did a while ago. It was inspired by a woman that I let walk out of my arms, as much as it hurt, it was the correct thing to do. I owed it to her; pain truly filled this.
ReplyDeleteJust found Poets United and thought I would try to squeeze this poem through for the "pain" prompt since I just wrote it last week. Looking forward to reading what the prompt is for this week.
ReplyDeleteI found you through Sherry! I haven't written a poem in years, but could relate to the subject, so I thought I would try. I am bit late, will play catch up this weekend!
