Nathaniel Hawthorne once said “Moonlight is sculpture” and I must agree with that phrase. Night time is when the stars shine bright and your imagination grasps tightly to night’s beauty. It is a time for the constellations to tell stories and for the stars to inspire. One such constellation is Cassiopeia and one such inspiration is the poetry blog Cassiopeia Rises. If you are not familiar with the poetess Melanie Bishop or her blog Cassiopeia Rises you are truly missing out on a wonderful poet.
Melanie’s blog has a soft melancholy undertone to it. All though it is sprinkled with many styles of poetry the ones that seem to call to her readers are of a beautiful sadness. One example of this is her poem Emily’s Garden. Here the reader is teased by her colorful prose and visual display. It’s a simple vivid read that leaves you wondering where it is Emily has gone too.
Cassiopeia Rises has a long history and archive of poems and any reader of this blog are bound to fall in love with at least one or two of Melanie’s poems. A personal favorite of mine is Caged. In this piece she says so much in seven short and powerful lines. I feel she captures idea of loving the wrong people so well. I truly enjoy this poem as I do most of her poetry.
When the sun is swallowed by the night sky and stars inspire you to read, take that time to visit Melanie’s blog Cassiopeia Rises. I feel it’s worth the trip as I am sure you will to.
