Midweek Motif ~ MUSIC
What are you listening to?
What do you hear?
And where?
For love, remembrance?
For the end of the year?
For the return of Light?
Resounding through atmos-spheres?
~
Your challenge: Match the mood
of your poem to the music in it.
~
I tied together
a few slender reeds, cut
notches to breathe across and made
such music you stood
shock still and then
followed as I wandered growing
moment by moment
slant-eyes and shaggy, my feet
slamming over the rocks, growing
hard as horn, and there
you were behind me, drowning
in the music, letting
the silver clasps out of your hair,
hurrying, taking off
your clothes. . . . (Read the rest HERE at Famous Poets and Poems.com)

Thank you for the prompt Susan - nice to see the year out with a song...I hope you have a peaceful holiday time and I look forward to a new year of Midweek Motif
ReplyDeleteHey, Jae! You, too, you too. I'm heading over to your Blog now!
DeleteI slept late this morning!! Sleep being such a rare gift lately, I relish it. Someone out there sang me a lullaby. Now, Poets United, you have until Saturday to WAKE me with the MUSIC of your poems. I'll be in and out all day hoping to see you. Grocery shopping takes up the next two hours, but I'll be singing in the aisles.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Good morning everyone. This is my first time posting for a prompt. I've only linked for the pantry. This is actually my first time writing for a prompt as well. I found it to be quite enjoyable. I look forward to trying this out again in the new year!
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome! I'm glad you will be joining us again and even more in teh new year.
DeleteYes, I look forward to it, Susan :)
DeleteTorie, at first I never wrote to prompts either, wasnt sure if I "could". But soon I found that, writing so often, one comes to welcome having a topic to write about. I look forward to reading yours and hope you keep coming back!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sherry. I never really thought I could just randomly write about a certain topic. I didn't think I'd like the structure of it I guess. But I felt like it just came really naturally and not forced at all like I had thought. I enjoyed it. I will be back for more prompts in the future!
DeleteHa ha, I am smiling at the glee with which we staffers are anticipating our Christmas break! Lol. I know we will be more than eager to get back at it in the new year, though. The computer pulls me like a magnetic force!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGlee? Haha. Not really, Sherry, these poets and their poems--you included--pull at me and inspire me. Put up a word--a simple motif--and they take me all over the world amd inside and out. I love it.
DeleteHey everyone! I was really excited for this midweek motif because music inspires me in so many different ways. Hope you all like what I wrote. :)
ReplyDeleteKenn, so good to see you.....really. You have become a great supporter of Poets United. I so look forward to visiting your poem!!
DeleteThank you for the good prompts throughout the year ,Susan. Wishing you and all the participants at Mid Week Motif a Merry Christmas and Best Wishes for the New Year.
ReplyDeleteRegards
Rall
Thank you, Rallentanda. I have the same wishes for you. Write on!
DeleteSusan, what a wonderful prompt for this time of year....when there is so much holiday music everywhere. I am making my way through the poems of those who have posted. Hope that everyone here will have a holiday filled with joy!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mary. I think you captured all of that holiday music in your poem. I'll be here through Saturday and at the pantry on Sunday, so I won't asay goodbye just yet. Happy prep for the Christmas Holidays, and Happy Hanukkah.

ReplyDeleteHi everyone. I've been trying to leave comments on blogs, but there appears to be a glitch happening. Everyone has written beautiful poems. I'll keep trying in hopes that the glitch has been fixed!
