Pantry of Poetry and Prose #6

December greetings, poets and storytellers! Yes, December. Can you believe it? My joints can feel it deeply, but… the rest of me is still wondering what happened to November (and the rest of 2019).

Well, I have no idea where last month went, but its last Friday was taken by Rosemary’s Moonlight Musings: Process and Product. If you’ve yet to read it, do go back and take a look-see. Next week, for December’s first Midweek Motif, Sumana and Susan invite us to explore Change.

Speaking of change that affected (and continues to affect) a lot of souls, 64 years ago (on December 1, 1955), Rosa Parks refused to sit on the back of a bus—where Alabama law said she, and anyone with too much honey in their skin, belonged. Rosa said enough! and changed the world. If you need a bit of inspiration, let your words celebrate Rosa Parks.

It’s Sunday at Poets United, so the pantry is open to both poetry and prose (stories, articles, essays… in 369 words or fewer). Your entry can be old or new, the writing choice is yours. And the reading pleasure is all ours.

  1. I apologise for not posting something new, Magaly, but I'm still struggling with my chest infection. I hope to be back to normal next week.

    1. For the Pantry, Kim, an older piece of writing is quite acceptable. I submitted something that is decades old!

    2. Kim, as Rosemary said, the Pantry does not discriminate against oldies. It actually likes them! Grins. I so hope you feel better soon. Chest infections are the worse.

  2. Hello Poets & Storytellers! It's been a while, and thought best to submit my last prose contribution for the year. It delights me to see that I'm not the only one with "change" in mind. Anyway, Happy Sunday! I'll be reading you. :)

  4. I love the phrase "too much honey in the skin". I personally think honeyed skin more lovely than the white-pink i am stuck with. Smiles. Yay for Rosa Parks. Like young Greta, one small act like hers can spark a tidal wave of change.

    1. Beauty loves to dress up in all sorts of colors and shapes, doesn't she?

And yes, great things--great changes included--begin with a tiny step.

  9. Thank you, Magaly, for writing this reminder, may we never forget. Love your illustration, she makes me feel young and happy.
TODAY I START MY SABATICAL TO END JANUARY 12, 2020 (love the ring of those numerals, my hope is to live that long).
Also, I may sneak out a dity or few when my Warden isn't looking.
Bye Bye, wish me a BON VOYAGE,
    Jim

  10. "That long" being through the year 2020. My dad lived to be 97 but he lived a cleaner life than I did. Internet predictors have me living until I'm 100, Mrs. Jim 99.
