Verse First ~ Just Past Center
Welcome to VERSE FIRST, where simple notions prompt amazing poems.
Today's notion?
JUST PAST CENTER
JUST PAST CENTER
We are, now, just past September's center. Funny way to look at a span of time, from the center. But that is exactly what I want you to do. Look at something, anything really, from just past center. It could be your life, your kitchen table or even a task at hand. It could be your equilibrium, your goals, a relationship or...
Whatever you choose, write a poem from the perspective of JUST PAST CENTER.

ReplyDelete...p.s. you don't have to comment, just read & you give me the grandest favor... smiles...
DeleteKelvin, it really saddens me that I cannot respond to your poem. I would really LIKE to.
Delete...i am in the process of re-inventing myself, Mary... and all i need today is silence & your understanding... smiles...
DeleteWonderful poem, Kelvin. You are so talented that however you re-invent yourself, it will be all good!
DeleteKevin, only 183 days till Spring! I, too, count! Smiles.....
DeleteKelvin! must say a confession that still hasnt sunk in yet! In a few words you convey so much!
DeleteThis is my first online opportunity since this post went live. Love your work, Kelvin. Thank you for sharing it with us.
DeleteLoved your poem Kelvin. Here in NZ we are slowly creeping towards Summer.
DeleteWhat if one's mind is off center? Hmm...
ReplyDeleteI came up with mine this morning. I will look forward to reading what others come up with as well. Hope that those of you who share will make visits as well, as it makes EVERYONE feel good.
ReplyDeleteI don't know where from you get all these ideas Kim...
ReplyDeletewith your prompts every week I shift my thinking from the routine!
Great response, PT, I cant find a comment option on your site so will tell you here - your center sounds a fine place to be!

DeleteFrom the recesses of my mind, PT! LOL!
DeleteGlad you find them inspiring.
This is a way cool prompt. You sure come up with some intriguing ones, Kim. Thanks, kiddo!
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it, Sherry. I'll try to get around to everyone today. Have not had internet access since early in the week.
DeleteMy post is actually from a few days ago. I'm never ready to relinquish summer. And we're 'Just past center' ( yes, a bit more than just...) with weather hinting of change.....
ReplyDeleteThis prompt took me to a description that had been eluding me. It's a bit rough still. Thank you, Kim.
ReplyDeleteLove that it took you to a place you'd been seeking, Susan.
Deletethank you for the prompt and the pictures it paints.
ReplyDeleteSo many ways to go with this...the Poetry Jam prompt helped me pick one! Looking forward to reading tomorrow...it's after midnight here. Have a great night/day everyone :-)
ReplyDeleteI've been feeling "just off center" myself of late, so it was a great bit of catharsis disguised in a prompt! A little tongue in cheek, but it gets the juices flowing, what can I say!
ReplyDeleteMe, too, Joseph! Me, too!
DeleteA rough draft to say, perhaps an attempt to bank those random thoughts. Thank you Kim! I found my release. Will come back tomorrow to read others.
ReplyDeleteIs release not the best in the writing world? Hooray for you, Akila!
DeleteI try to honor the Poets United spirit of community by visiting and commenting on the other contributions. But I never comment where there is word verification. Frustrating beacuse I have written my comment but I cannot be fussed trying to transcribe the number and text and abandon my comment and move on. Life is short and I have passed its centre.
ReplyDeleteI understand this, JCN. The verification process irritates me sometimes, too. Those whose sites contain this feature might consider that others have read without commenting because of the additional burden. Thank you for explaining your perspective here.
DeleteI had to think about this for a while. Not sure my poem fits the prompt. But I tried :)
ReplyDeleteIt's been a long time since I participated on here - but the muse has awoken in the last week and I am back!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been here for a while...thanks so much for the prompt Kim.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, I did it right this time...
