Verse First ~ Ghosts & Spirits & Scares

Verse First ~ Ghosts & Spirits & Scares!

Welcome to VERSE FIRST, where simple notions prompt amazing poems.
Today's notion?

GHOSTS & SPIRITS & SCARES!

It is, after all, nearly All Hallow's Eve.  You must have expected this one! Without further ado, write a piece about ghosts or spirits or scares. In honor of the day, make it either exactly 31 words or 31 lines. No fewer. No more. GO!

After posting your poem on your site, link it here. Please! Only share original work and honor the Poets United spirit of community by visiting and commenting on others' contributions.

  1. Kim, Great prompt for this time of the year. I decided on being a minimalist and chose 31 lines. Ghosts on my mind this week...

  2. here you go...a quick rattle of bones from my brain...

    'bump in the night'

    bump in the night
    bump in the night
    covers pulled tight
    i deny the dead
    their place
    in my life

    this works
    for neither of us
    so we settle for coffee,
    both black-no sugar
    & sit silent

    together
    saying so much

    1. No problem. And if you ever want to post "way late" go for it. I seem to run perpetually late these days, so will feel like we're in the same groove!
