The Think Tank Thursday-#88 Feather

I found a feather, the other day. I wondered what do poets think of, when they find a feather? I'm always tickled to find a pretty one. It does feel like a sign to me, especially if found in an unique spot.

"Hope is the thing with feathers -That perches in the soul-And sings the tune--without the words-And never stops at all."  ~ Emily Dickinson

"Our birthdays are feathers in the broad wing of time." ~ Jean Paul

"It is not only fine feathers that make fine birds." ~ Aesop

Remember Dumbo and the magic feather.  It is a Disney movie about an elephant with huge ears. Timothy Mouse thinks with those ears, Dumbo could fly. He thinks he can make this elephant famous. The next great act in his circus.   Dumbo doesn't doesn't believe, until a crow gives him a magic feather.  And he does, he flies.  Do you have a magic feather?

Maybe feathers make you think of angels, birds, or hope. What comes to mind when you see or find a feather? Is is a whisper, a sign or just a feather?   With your poet's eye and your magic feather, I mean pen, write a poem that expresses what this prompt symbolizes to you!

If you have a prompt idea (even a Music or Film inspired one) that you would like to suggest or share with us please send it to poetsunited@ymail.com . We keep a folder set aside with all your suggestions and just might use it one day.
