Welcome to Verse First, where simple notions prompt amazing poems.
Today's notion?
BUILD IT UP
One Word At A Time
Here's how it works:
Your first line has two words. The second line has three. The third, four, and so on. Length is not limited so long as each line contains one more word than the line before it. Write until it's ready! When you're finished, go back and give your poem a one word title.
Post the poem on your website, then use Mr. Linky to share it with us. Feel free to leave a comment below, and be sure to enjoy the reflective creations of your fellow poets by visiting and commenting on one another's work.
Looking forward to reading some amazing poems! ~ Kim

ReplyDeleteGood Morning! Hey, Kim, Fun Prompt. Happy travels.
ReplyDeleteYay! Fun! :D
ReplyDeleteI have commented on a couple this morning, will be back later with my own. I love this prompt, Kim!
ReplyDeleteI wrote this poem awhile ago, and changed its format, an interesting challenge. Looking forward to read some more poetry on the site today.
ReplyDeleteWow ... this was fun :-)
ReplyDeleteKim, this is the coolest prompt ever! I think I can even DO this one, hee hee!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this one, wrote it today after a recent sermon at our church. Thanks Alan
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed writing this...:)) Thanks for the prompt!
ReplyDeleteI had a bit of fun with this too - does this form have a name? I've done nonets before which go the other way and only up to nine words but have never tried one in this direction ...

ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteI loved finding this challenge today. I wrote it this morning, but am only finding the time to post it now.
I will visit all other poets, as and when I can:) I am having carpel tunnel surgery this Friday,( same as Susan ). I am trying to leave domestic matters in good shape, before my left-hand is out of use for a few days. I am also a south-paw!!
Best Regards,
Eileen:)
Heal Quickly, Eileen! I'll be 'round to read your post!
DeleteFound just a few minutes. So glad many of you like this. I don't know the name of this form, just kind of made it up; but I will do a little research. Will be 'round to all your posts as soon as I can.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this challenge today. I found myself writing several and it was a nice diversion to have something positive to focus on. It was just what I needed.
ReplyDeleteHad been toying with this idea for a while. Hope it fits in!

This was a fun prompt. Thanks, Kim!
ReplyDeleteInteresting! I found I really didn't want to go the distance, so I created a couple of variations on the original idea.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I see I did it wrong as to first word and title. Ah well, done now.
