Poetry Pantry #284

Ice Sculptures at Milwaukee Zoo - 2015

Happy New Year, Friends!  Hope you all had a happy holiday time or at least a good break.  Hope to see many of you here now that the holiday is over!

The photos were taken by me a few days ago.  We asked the ice carver (in the third photo) how long it took for him to carve something, and he said about an hour.  I find this totally amazing.  Enjoy.

Tomorrow Sherry will be featuring three poems on PEACE.  A very apt topic for the new year, don't you think?  Peace is something we all hope will be achieved.

Susan's Midweek Motif on Wednesday is JOY, if you want to get a head start.  We all hope that you have had a lot of joy in recent weeks and that.

And Rosemary has a very interesting "I Wish I'd Written This" scheduled for later in the week as well.

With no further delay, let's share poetry!  Link your one poem below, and be sure to visit the poems of others who link!  See you on the 'trail.'

  2. Happy New Year! I'm looking forward to checking out the posts, tomorrow and Monday. I have some major catching up to do (Smiles!) Your photos are wonderful, Mary. I love ice sculpture. I have several wildlife, ice-like, glass sculptures by Swedish Artist Mats Jonasson that have been given to me as gifts and they are very special to me.

  17. Yay! The Pantry is open again! Happy New Year, friends. I know this is going to be the best year ever, and look forward to all the poetry we will enjoy. Yippee! I have so much catching up to do. But the holidays were lovely, including my older daughter's WEDDING New Year's Eve to the sweetest man in the world. I can honestly day that was the best new year's eve ever, and think how cool her anniversary will be every year! I am driving my daughter (in law, but really daughter) to the airport this morning then will be back to make the rounds. I am happy to get back to work. Enough holidaying, eating, talking.....smiles.

  26. Thank you, for posting these pictures of the ice sculptures, as they brought back, so fond memories of my university days, as a student, at Carleton University, during the early 1990s. Especially, the Winterlude Festival, which is held late January and early February, every year, weather permitting it. As I celebrate my birthday, then.
