Poetry Pantry #285

Moai Statues on Easter Island
by Matthew Henningsen

Hello, Friends!  This week we have photos by Matthew Henningsen.  He said that Easter Island, owned by Chile, is one of the 'coolest' places he has ever been.  He mentioned that it's one of the most remote places in the world. It's in the middle of the South Pacific, and the only way to reach it is on a 5 hour flight from Santiago, Chile. No one really knows what the statues were used for.  Some say they are images of revered ancestors, but no one really knows.  Thank you, Matthew, for fascinating views.

Thinking of Matthew, stay tuned.  Sherry will be interviewing him sometime soon!

But tomorrow, Sherry is featuring the blog of someone we are all familiar with.  No further clues, but you will enjoy!

And on Wednesday Susan's theme at Midweek Motif is Mountain!  We all enjoyed what was written for Sumana's food theme!

Be sure to take a look back at Rosemary Nissen-Wade's Maie Casey poem "Two Bottles."  Rosemary manages to find the most interesting poems for The Living Dead, doesn't she?

With no delay, let's share poetry.  After linking below, be sure to stop in and say hello in the comments.  And, of course, enjoy visiting the poems of others who post!

  18. WONDERFUL photos, Matthew! It must be amazing to stand in the ancient energy of that place. Thanks, Mary, for hosting. I have posted a series of poems honoring Pup's five year anniversary of his death. That big old dog is still such a Presence in my life. I seem to have linked the "wrong" one here, but maybe that is meant to be.

I have always been mystified by these ancient objects and all the mystery surrounding these. It is been a week of writer's block and no energy but today, awoke to the first snow. Magic! Hope you all are well and will be making my way through the links over the day and night. Thank you Mary for an exciting Pantry and looking forward to the interview with Matthew and learning more about him.

  22. Here I come, late, because Mary added my link for me but I spent yesterday travelling home after my holiday, unable to read or comment on other posts. I'll be making up for lost time very soon! Meanwhile, thanks to Mathew for these haunting images.

    1. Have also belatedly added a YouTube video to my post, as I realised some people reading did not seem to be familiar with the (now old!) song that was my source.
