Poetry Pantry #405

Wire-tailed swallow feeding its young

Greetings, friends.

It has been another active week at Poets United.  Monday Sherry shared dragon poems written by three of our fine poets.  On Wednesday Susan prompted us to write about Truth for Midweek Motif.  Friday Rosemary presented Marge Piercy's poem "For the Young Who Want To" in her feature for this week.

And in the week ahead:  On Monday Sherry has an extraordinary post featuring some amazing young poets.  I won't tell you more, but you are in for a real treat.  Don't miss it.

On Wednesday Susan's Midweek Motif is Running.

Now a gripe.  I am sure many of you share the same gripe with Blogger.  No longer do I receive emails when people comment on my posted poems in Blogger.  The only way I can read people's comments is to go the poem itself.  I generally write only one (or at the most two) poem a week, so I have only the one poem to check.  However, I know some of you write poems for various prompts and many during the week, so I can only imagine how difficult this is for you.  Has anyone found a way to enable emails to be sent to you if you use Blogger?   How about WordPress?  Do those of you who use WordPress still receive email notifications? Anyone have any comments about these changes, please share them below.

And now let's link poetry.  Choose a poem.  Link it.  Stop in and say hello.  Visit the poems of others who participate.  Looking forward to seeing you on the trail.

  1. Good morning all! Looking forward to your poems! Mary, to your question, WP still sends email notifications, also it's pretty convenient to check on the WP dashboard using the mobile app.

    1. Blogger USED to send email notifications. Now the only way, with all the changes this past week, I can see comments is to go directly TO my poem. Quite annoying.

  2. Good morning Mary, Rajani and United Poets! I agree with Rajani about WordPress still emailing notifications. As I rarely use my mobile, I haven't tried the app, but I can easily access all comments on the WP dashboard.
I can't believe the weekend is almost over and we are fast approaching the middle of June. I might miss a few prompts from next weekend onward as, once I've attended the examiners' conference on Saturday, I'll be busily marking exam papers.

  6. as a Wordpresser can't gripe about the comments notifications but can whinge about the popups/messages on websites re tracking compliance for GDPR and other laws requiring notification of tracking. But all that aside, your chosen image for this post is the very essence of June and its good to be here - thank you for being there!
p.s. why can I only comment as a Google Account

    1. I don't know why one can only comment as a google account. I do know that with the blogger changes they got rid of what had been the 'open ID option.'

  8. Thanks for hosting, Mary. I went to Blogger Forum and they say they are aware of the problem, are tweaking things and hope to have it fixed soon. It is very annoying, so hope they fix it soon.

Yes, it is disconcerting to have to go hunting for comments.

  12. Cheers for posting Mary - bit late in getting here, but here I am.
Blogger is a problem, although I only average one poem a week - emails, now missing, were a welcome alert.
Hopefully the problem will be resolved soon...
