Poetry Pantry #343

Good Sunday, Friends. Glad to see you here at Poets United today.  We had another good week, didn't we?  Thanks for taking part in Susan's Midweek Motif - Fear.

And, if you haven't seen Rosemary's Thought Provokers this week, please scroll back and take a look. I read it on Saturday and added a glowing comment....as the things Rosemary shared seemed so very important to me.    One of the articles that she shared was "10 Ideas That Could Save Poetry," and I found myself awed.... Please take a look & comment!

And on Monday, do return and read Sherry's post featuring three of of Poets United's male bloggers. I know you will enjoy this feature.

On Wednesday, Sumana's prompt is "Be Bold for Change."  This is the theme of International Working Woman's Day, which is on March 8.  Are you ready to be 'bold for change' in some way?

With no delay, let's share poetry.  Post and link your poem.  Stop in and say hello. Visit other poets who link.   Thanks for being part of the Poets United community.

  1. Hello everyone, am hoping your weather is a lot warmer than, what has gripped Toronto, over the past few days, where the average temperature has dipped below -4 C, as the daily high, from the high of 15 d on March 1st. This week, am sharing a poem that I wrote earlier to address the suggestion that Robin (Robin's Nest) made to my poem, "Family Ties". Writing for me, is like lancing a boil, you need to do it, even though, it's painful to do so, for true healing to occur. I say this, in a metaphorical way, as I hate the sight of blood, something that I have struggle with, as I need to prick my fingers, on a daily basis, to test my glucose level, for my Type II diabetes.

    1. Ouch, but, as you note, even metaphorical blood heals.

  6. It is always Sunday night by the time I see the Pantry, and time for me to get to bed. But I look forward to reading tomorrow. I hope you who are still in the weekend have a nice one. (Btw Mary I think those birds are pelicans, not penguins!)

    1. And now I'm running late for another meeting, but I'll be back!
Here's the raw thought from a moment of grief and anger:
      Citizens Take Back our World.

Another beautiful visitor has been shot.
Another gravestone overturned. And the response?
      Another official investigation launched—

We see hate come out of hiding, grow bold and strong.
We mourn and stand, increase our guard, bypass police
who seem to be elsewhere rather than proactive.

Police cannot be left to stand alone without
citizen engagement, were never meant to take
our hands and replace our responsibility.

Because of hate, we should not arm. Because of hate
we will demand police give up sanctioned weapons.
Because of hate, we cannot lead the free world any more.

Another big investigation has been launched—
      but unacceptable crime is continuing.
Before we need another gravestone, we’ll stand up.

  11. Good Morning :-) My apologies to anyone who tried to read my poem last week. I linked a poem and then realized that I actually didn't have time to participate reciprocally, so I used the Linky name/URL removal tool. I had never used it before and thought that by using it my name would actually be removed from the list entirely. However, I just noticed that the tool doesn't actual REMOVE my name from the list, so my name was still there as though I was participating. Oops. Therefore, anyone who clicked on it just went nowhere. I'm so sorry for the inconvenience!! My apologies for any frustration or wasted time any of you experienced as a result of that.

    1. I see now that someone fixed the link and put a different poem in so that it does go somewhere now! Thank you to the person who did that.

  12. Today I'm sharing another nature poem with a twist. See if you catch it.

I'm so sorry I missed so many good articles with my flood. I'll be catching up this week!

I hope everyone has a great week ahead! Group hug!
