Poetry Pantry #341

Late Winter Sky

Happy Sunday, Poets.  I don't know about the rest of you, but I am getting a bit of spring fever.  Once February starts winding down I am ready for a breath of spring.  In actuality we are going to have a warmer than normal winter here.  I personally love it, but it definitely is a sign of the global warming which isn't all that good for the world.

Please do look back at Rosemary's "I Wish I'd Written This" feature, if you haven't. I always enjoy Rosemary's features, but this one (in my opinion) was one of her best.  She shared "Asma Unpacks Her Pretty Clothes" by Clive James, a poet I want to read more from.  If you like thought-provoking poetry, don't miss this one.  And....leave a comment for Rosemary as well.  We ALL like to know that our work is appreciated.

Susan had a wonderful prompt this past week....LOVE.  And this coming week Sumana is inspiring us with her prompt...... NOSTALGIA.

Be sure to return on Monday to see a a really nice blog-of-the-week feature...with someone VERY familiar to you here at Poets United.  Smiles.

With no further delay, let's share poetry.  Link your poem below.  Then leave a comment.  Truly it is nice to see comments....seems like more a a community that way!  Visit others who link.  And come back a few more times to see who else has posted.  And....please for sure be sure to visit those who visited you.  Enjoy your poetic day!

  1. Hood morning.. winter is still Hood with me. Ice to skate on, and sun don't set too early.

  2. February thaw, in full force, here, as Ontario's universities are enjoying their reading week. And I, the return of the sun, once more. Sadly, the poem that I am sharing, was written over a year ago, marking Family Day, which will celebrated by some. tomorrow.

It's a very personal poem, which I have experienced PTSD flashback, since writing it. Truthfully, I haven't been able to read it, since it has been posted, on my blog. I ask that anyone who read this, not to leave any comments, but rather reach out to local groups that are helping others to heal from childhood abuse. Thank you.

    3. I will honor your request to read and reach out to local groups instead of commenting, Therisa.

    4. Apologies, I commented before seeing this request. Will go and remove the comment; that's the best I can do now. I do support local groups against domestic violence and child abuse.

  3. The end of February/beginning of March, does seem to be Spring Fever Season, each year, doesn’t it? Winters – across North America – do not seem to be as harsh as I remember them as a child, though this passed winter has felt very heavy on my spirits (as it seems to have been for many others) … for obviously reasons, I suppose. But thank goodness for small mercies. And – with that – I am looking forward to my weekly browse through the Pantry. Thanks for opening the doors, Mary!

  6. Thanks, Mary. It's still hot, hot, hot here in Australia, and we have had some bad bushfires. Thank goodness autumn is just around the corner.

  7. I miss Jae Rose! She is usually early at Midweek and here. Hmmm.

And in other deep feelings, I want to hold hands around the world as it turns itself inside out yet continues to remind us that beauty exists. The readers of my poems keep teaching me: I write my poem and then find an illustration, and I don't notice how it expands or narrows the impact of my poem until you tell me. Love this process! Thank you, Poets United.

  8. I love the blue of that winter sky photo. Today I am back at my desk, trying to get some work done. But first, a romp through the Pantry!

  9. Exquisite photo and so many wonderful poems... times are quite surreal and I welcomed a respite to write of something far apart from the hatred and insanity that seems to permeate the very air I breathe. Happy Sunday to all and thank the Universe for poetry and for all of you.

  12. Still in a non-wireless non-digital... no phone or inter-net situation. Had to drive 50 miles round trip to a Wendy's free wi-fi spot. Sorry for not being able to read everyone once again.

  13. Better late than never. I too, am anxious for Spring! Oh! The Linky ran out. I don't remember this happening before but I guess I'm too late.

We've been having huge rain storms here so I biked yesterday rather than write because I had a window with not much rain.

    Have a nice week PU!
