Poetry Pantry #390

Snowboarder - 2008 Olympics - Quebec, Canada

Greetings, Poets!  Happy Sunday to you.   I am sure many of you will be watching the Olympics.  The picture I shared today came from Wikimedia and was taken at the Quebec, Canada, Olympics in 2008.

Hope you all had a good week and had some time to read and write poetry.

This coming week is Valentine's Day, and I wish you each a happy one.  Hope you had a chance to read Rosemary's The Living Dead, as she shared a wonderful poem by Kahlil Gibran entitled "On Love."  Rosemary asked a good question within the body of her article:  "Would you choose love no matter what the cost?  Or would you rather stay comfortable?"  If you haven't read the feature, go back to it, and give the question an answer.  Smiles.

Midweek Motif was a good one this past week....'shoes.' I wish I had been inspired.  I have kind of been in poetry doldrums.  I did, however, end up having the old Nancy Sinatra song "These Boots Are Made for Walking" running through my head for a while.  Sumana's Midweek Motif this Wednesday will be "Word."  Ah, let's see what we can do with that!

Monday Sherry is featuring the poet Namratha, one of our newer poets.  I don't always mention who will be featured, but I wanted to mention it this time because I wanted to encourage lots of you to visit. You know how it is when you are new...let's visit and give her a wonderful Poets United welcome.

Now with no further delay, let's share poetry.  Don't forget to stop into the comments below and say hello.  And, be sure to visit the poems of others who post.  We ALL like visits, and if someone visits you please do the courtesy of visiting them as well.

See you on the trail!

  6. Thanks, Mary, for all you do, and for the encouragement to welcome Namratha. I have a hard day ahead. I am at the farm, where we are laying our 34 year old mare, Beau, to rest. I will make the rounds as i am able, though it may take me a while.

  11. What a great shot, Mary, of that snowboarder! It's quite startling to think of winter, from here where the temperatures are very high again day after day. We had a brief cooler spell with lovely weather, and hoped autumn had arrived a little early, but not so. However, I would not like extreme cold either, so my sympathies to those of you who are experiencing it.

  13. I just wanted to drop a note - I'm being cyber stalked and have to lay low for a few days until I hopefully sort this out. In the meantime, I'm going "dark" - perhaps I'll be back sooner, maybe under a different "pen name" though. Happy poeming my friends.

  14. I don't know why my comment didn't post the first time. . . Maybe the blog Gods (or is that the blog gods) should look into it. Regardless I wanted to say Hi to all who I haven't addressed for some time now. I've only been here in stealth mode. In for that same attitude/reason that I haven't been writing; so of course I haven't been linking or commenting. But today I felt inspired and it just happened so I thought a post and a link might be in order, Cheers to all and happy valentines day.

  15. I'm late but only by a few days. I talked about it on my linked poem. So happy I'm feeling better and lucky I didn't get the flu.

I hope everyone has a good week! Hope to write for Wednesday. Hugs all around!
