Poetry Panrtry #414

SINGAPORE - CHINA TOWN (2)
PHOTOS BY LEE SAN

Backpacker Hotel

One of the only two 1-Michelin star street hawker food stalls
in Singapore is found here in Chinatown. The soya sauce chicken
is yummy, but the queue is another matter.

To the subway! The station is aptly named Chinatown.

A wall mural featuring a vanished trade, the letter writer.

The five-foot way, an architectural feature common
to most shophouses in Singapore and Malaysia.
It provides shelter from the rain and sun.

Good Sunday to all of you!  Hope you all are doing fine.  Again this week we have photos contributed by Lee San to enjoy.  Smiles.

Always glad to see you at the different things Poets United offers each week....whether it is Sherry's Monday offering, Susan's or Sumana's Midweek Motif, or Rosemary's (or sometimes Sherry's) Friday feature.

Be sure to check back and read the wonderful poem "The Forest" by a Canadian poet that Sherry shared for I Wish I'd Written This.

This Monday Sherry will be featuring an update with one of our most prolific poets.  Wednesday Sumana's Midweek Motif prompt will be "Of Poems."

With no delay, let's share poetry.  Link your one poem below.  Say hello in the comments, and visit the other poets who share their work.  I look forward to seeing you on the trail.

  2. Happy Sunday everyone! I have my daughter and grandson here until tomorrow, so I'm making the most of my time with them - we're going to the seaside and this evening we're attending a performance of As You Like It by The Pantaloons on our village green.

  9. I am in love with the mural. I wish letter-writing in this manner becomes a thing again. I might try to dance towards it myself.

    Happiest Sunday, everyone!

    1. it is a pity that the letter writer is a vanished trade, due to higher literacy rates and the advance of technology. i should say "vanishing trade" as there are still some around, for their services in writing ancestral tablets, couplets and attending to the occasional tourist. :)

    2. The reasons behind the shift are great for humanity, of course. But what can I say? I'm a romantic (who wishes that tourist or the random local weren't the only ones attracted by this art).

  15. Enjoyed the photos! Happy to be here on Sunday it's been a while. Searching for something to share, then I'll be around to read. Look forward to it.

Took time off as you know, been riding my bike, had a good summer and it's going by fast but not over yet.

    Hugs!
