Color Scheming

If you are observant you may have noticed that our colors have changed. We are currently looking to find a better color to represent Poets United and our Community. We got tired of the Grey and Pink. Many folks said it hurt their eyes. So now we explore!!


What color do you think we should go with? What best represents us, poetry and doesn’t seem too childish?

Please feel free to suggest anything beyond the boring standard black and white.

Don’t mind the newest or latest color as it’s just an experimental state and may not stay.

Ok Teal didnt work and I do think the brown is a tad boring...back to work. lol Keep the comments coming.

    Now this one hurts and turquoise is one of my favourite colours. I found the grey soothing for the eyes, so maybe play with a neutral colour for the background and use your splash of colour [I sound like HGTV]on the trim. But it does need to be a colour against which reading is easy. Try different colours with the grey, or a pale shade of an earth colour.

    I don't think this turquoise is is right. I like the choice of the blue. Maybe a deep rich red instead of the turquoise? I can't get that deep rich red myself, but you probably do it better than I. Maybe the letter could be a warm beige?

    I like this gold/brown...the grey background is good with it...Maybe throw in a Navy Blue on the header....or somewhere for contrast...bkm

    I think poets are artists and it should be eye catching, inspirational, creative, and out there. Something like orange and pink or purple with red. The color now is too bland for artists. :)

    I like this maroonish brown -- much more pleasing to my eyes. I have problems choosing colors for my blog, too. I usually end up with shades of gray. Is that because we're poets?

    I like brown, but the yellow hurts my eyes.
    Perhaps green...

    I actually like this new look. It is more colorful than the original...will be fun watching it metamorphose...being Extremely Old, however, I have a bit of trouble reading the curly font...and cant see the black font words at all.... especially the smaller words.Much as I like the LOOK of the font.Fun changes though, Robb! Snazzy!

    I don't like the brown, is it brown? I like
    the greyish background, maybe with a blue, but not brown.

    The yellow is painful on my old eyes ... black on white is beautiful ... if you got the right blog skin ... try it.

    I think it's kinda boring. Sorry. Brown and yellow gel well but brown, yellow and grey don't. Look for a vibrant template, like the tie and die one i have on my blog.

    Colour is one thing, and the site could do with a change of mood but this font is incredibly difficult to read - small, cramped, low to the ground, uninspiring to this writer's eye... I want to run away.

    Much lighter backgrounds (gray, blue in the current look) would make for easier reading.

    Getting closer....Robb...like this...maybe a photo of writing or alike behind header so it pops out...like this color combo though..it is kinda the reverse of other and works well...bkm

    I think this is better than the darker colours, Robert. Have you considered more of a plain black on white magazine type colour scheme? Much easier for us oldies to read. lol I don't envy you your task.

    This scheme looks awful. A vibrant background would work really well. Blue and grey.........kinda dull for a poet.

    Thanks for changing the font - this one's much better. The grey boxes on blue ground look very professional and solid, but I'm not sure what the lime and pink are saying... the teal and purple look good.

    Oh these colors look great, Robb....and the font is reasy to read. I like bkm's suggestion of a photo or something in the header to make it pop. This color scheme really jazzes it up....well done!

    This grey makes the site look calm and clear. Good choice in my eyes. But for me the font looks blurred, a little small and is not easy to read. Your task is a difficult one ;-)
