Greetings, Poets!
Glad to see each of you here this week. Hope you each had a poetic week & also will share one of your poems here. It is always fun to get to know you through your poetry; and I hope you feel the same. I wonder if you find it easier or harder to write poetry in summer. For me, I think, inspiration (for some unknown reason) is a bit harder to come by in summer...though summer is my FAVORITE season of the year. The picture above was taken by me at sunset at a Disney World resort. I just love the reflection.
Come back a few times on Sunday and Monday to see what's new. Visit some strangers, and they will become new friends! Making new friends and reading new poetry, what more could one want?
Also, don't forget to visit Poets United other days of the week. For example, every Wednesday Kim posts a new "Verse First" prompt. Hope you will join us there as well! Sherry Blue Sky does a feature (it varies) on Monday, and Rosemary Nissen-Wade does "I Wish I'd Written This" every Friday!
If you are on Facebook, look for us there as well. Join our site. It is one more way to stay in touch!
And now...here is the procedure, for those who are new here: Each Sunday we start a new post with a New Mr. Linky for you. This is so that you can post a link to a poem in your blog. The link will close Monday at 12:00 p.m. (CDT), but you can still visit the links of those who have posted them.
Enjoy!
Here is a summer poem I did this week!
ReplyDeleteSummer....Its horrible here in India, everything is dry and parched. but now, with monsoon giving a shower it's somewhat fine.
ReplyDeleteHalf of North India has submerged. Where exactly are you? Still summer there? You don't know whats going on with rains here. Even our college was called off for 1 week! Electricity and telephone lines were completely done for. Still, seeing Uttarakhand, our problems seems so light.
DeleteA poem on Monsoon!
ReplyDeleteAfter long 2 weeks, I am back again. Telephone lines were all over the place after the rains. And my modem suffered the wrath of an unruly lightning. Fixed everything yesterday. Rains have ceased. Skies have cleared. Good day everyone!
ReplyDeleteWell.... summer IS harsh in India. I do agree that rains have done much damage this year- it's heart breaking//// but, it doesn't suddenly take away summer's wrath!
ReplyDeleteIn any case, my poem is neither on summer, nor on rain... it's on love- love lost and it's called The Coloured Sky.
writing poems in summer is different for me, they have a different feeling as well; I may lack inspiration, but when I get an idea, it's a strange one, so I'm looking forward to those summer eve's when inspiration will strike. ;)
ReplyDeleteGood to see so much activity already this morning. Smiles. Thanks to those who have commented here as well. It does sound like much of India is enduring a harsh summer. I will be out 'pounding the trail.' Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to be here this week! I'm trying a new form - a tanka series - this time out! Happy Summer Sunday to all!
ReplyDeletegood morning poets...in again and will be around...

Good Morn poets, a blissful Sunday to enjoy!
ReplyDeleteWriting at this moment; this summer moment is changing for me. #1 I am ill and write much less. #2 as I am writing memoir using Japanese poetry forms I find myself doing much revision in order to remain true to a form. I wrote this current piece Thursday. I was pleased with it. Today I realized that instead of a paragraph for my haibun, I had written 2 paragraphs. Revision. Again, thank you for this opportunity - truly.
ReplyDeleteLiz.
DeleteI have missed seeing your in the Blogosphere recently..Sorry to read you are ill. Hope you will be feeling well soon.
Best wishes,
Eileen
It is raining here, and at noon dark as night. There is a poem in that, but no devastating floods as in India and other parts of the world and the USA. My poem is about waking, writing, fishing, and the ones that got away. Sort of.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday to all!
ReplyDeleteI'm sharing a Blues sonnet I wrote a few weeks ago.
Good morning all. I am struggling right now in my writing. Sometimes it works well, and other times, well this is where I end up-
ReplyDeleteAudrey, I think it is the 'summer struggle.' I think it is harder to write in summer than other seasons, for some reason.
DeleteMary,
ReplyDeleteI am pleased to have made it to The Poetry Pantry this Sunday.
Influenced by thoughts of e-readers etc...loss of bookcases:)
Happy Sunday & week ahead,
Eileen
