Poetry Pantry #275

Photos of Rusty Cars

By Björn Rudberg

Good day, Poets!  Hope that those of you in the Northern Hemisphere are experiencing a beautiful autumn Day and that those of you in the Southern Hemisphere are having a beautiful spring day.   (Let me tell you, I would love to trade places with my friends in, let's say, Australia who are heading into summer rather than winter!)

Today we have some interesting photos taken by Björn Rudberg who told me "there is a certain stark beauty in them."  And indeed there is!   If any of you regular poets have photos that you think would work well for the Pantry, please let me know!

Again, it has been a good week here at Poets United.  Many of you took part in Susan's "gravity" prompt for Wednesday's Midweek Motif.  Really that was a challenging topic, but it inspired some very creative poems!    The prompt for this coming Wednesday's poem is "Animation."  Hope to see you!

And who will be featured by Sherry tomorrow/Monday?  Let me just say that she is featuring three 'poems of the week.'  The three poets are all well known to those of you who participate in the Sunday  Pantry.  No further clues.  Stay tuned!

On Friday, please return for Rosemary's interesting article on Poetic Theft, a subject that I think will interest all of us.  Rosemary also hopes that, after reading the article, poets will engage in a bit of conversation sharing their thoughts on the subject.  Don't miss this opportunity.

Now it is time to share poetry.  Link your one poem below, & then visit the poems of others who post!  We all enjoy visits, don't we?

  1. Wonderful photos! I see the genesis of an art book, Bjorn. I am being carried off to a family get together tomorrow - and so will be making the rounds (and doing serious "catch-up") tomorrow evening and Monday. Monday seems to be the day for it, lately - the rest of my week, these days, seems to move in all directions ... albeit, pleasantly (though seldom as productively as I might wish).

... for some reason unknown to me, I'm unable to post my comments ... perhaps the Universe is just letting me get some sleep ... Will try again tomorrow 😊

  4. Ah, yes there is some beauty in those old rusty cars.. Somehow it feels even better that they are former military trucks.

  9. Good Sunday morning....it is cool, gray and rainy here today. I am glad to be back. Last week I was absent as we were attending my niece's wedding in Denver...glorious event outside with incredible weather.....sorry no pictures as I packed light and didn't want to be taking pictures but enjoying the moment.

Love these pictures Bjorn. There is an almost spiritual quality about rusting vehicles...somedays I feel more like them.

  16. I wonder what haunting stories those cars could tell. I am in a dark mood so wrote something a bit different today. I'll be around later to catch up with everyone.

  19. Oh what cool car photos - they're about my age, LOL. I am late as I had to muck out three stalls this morning, feed three horses and three dogs. Now I'm tired, but will make my way through the Pantry. I'm sure you will all perk me up. Here, it is a glorious sunny fall day, in living color.......gorgeous. Hope you are all enjoying a wonderful Sunday. I must say I am looking forward to Rosemary's feature. One of our long time early members had her work blatantly stolen and published on another site. A total violation. Am looking forward to the discussion.

  21. I just read 13 of these beauties after a very full day at a workshop examining white privilege--so it's time to check in--and then rest eyes and mind. I adore the closeups! Bjorn, you've made art out of ancient faces. I'll be catching up with all the rest of you with the next two days. I love being part of this!
