  17. Yes indeed we do. They are under the "Thursday Think Tank Tab"
And we post a new one each week. I don't let the widgets expire so you can always post to them. The latest was a "How to" Poem. We use the Mr. Lynkys Widget that just needs your name and the URL of the poem inserted in it. Then folks can go right to your blog and read read your poem for the prompt. Since we are new the following on the prompts is slow going but increasing each week. And yes you can post us anywhere you like but only do so because you want to, not out of any obligation.

  21. Gerry I'm glad you found us. I have added you to a group and the blogroll. I think there are already two folks in your group so make sure to check them out. One poem a week is a very productive poet I feel. I look forward to reading your work. Oh and as for the academic aspect I am with you there myself I can't claim anything worth while to put on paper. I'm just a poet with a hobby and maybe too much free time lol.

Tell us a little about your blog and your style: I am eclectic in my writing, although the poetry seems to flow a couple times a week in response to other themed sites. I don't solely write poetry on my blog, so I'm not sure if I should/could be included here.

    ReplyDelete
  30. JRM, welcome to Poets United. To answer your question first, the fact that you write poetry a few times a week should suffice enough to fit here. Some of our poets only write once or twice a month. Our focus is poetry but we do have many talented authors who dable in other styles of writing. As long as you have a consistant base of poetry to contribute to this community I see no problem with you being a part of Poets United. Just remember to be supportive of your peers. My intent is just avoid sites for now with no poetry at all and especially the ones taht are just advertisement or spam pages. It kind of would defeat our purpose lol. I look forward to reading both your poetry and other writings. Welcome and explore.

  34. Thank you, Robert, for your kind words about my poetry blog and my (cough) superpowers, lol, but unfortunately I am going to have to withdraw my participation in a poetry group, mine being 7. 35. Fireblossom, it is no inconvenience whatsoever. I undertsand the demands of real life or personal reasons and respect them. When it comes to style I really don't know what to say, I like lots of different poets' work and to a large degree I guess I'm influenced by them, I think that modernism and impressionism are possibly my major influences, but that's something readers can debate. The blog is bilingual as I write in Spanish and English, mostly in English though. I have had a look at the site and I like it and am impressed by the poets on it and therefore would like to join, thanks for listening, donnadies

Greetings Robert, you can just call me Rika in short :), I just started out on writing poems not long ago and there is much more for me to learn from everyone and I hope that by joining Poets United, I can get more inspirations to share with people in the Poetry Community. I also learnt how to appreciate poetry works done by people and I really enjoyed it very much.

For the poems that I written, I normally do image manipulation for the picture that the poem required, and created them using Photoshop to make sure it goes with the poem =), writing poetry for me is really great as I can express feelings through them which i don't really want to write them in such an obvious way XD.

Thank for coming by my website and i hope to bring everyone more surprises and wonders in the poetry world^^

As an fyi we really don't do outright critiques since no one can better judge your poem than you. This does not mean that you can't request them from your group members or others. This is done because some folks just wish to be read and not told their work is bad. If you request it I am sure some folks will oblige but as a whole we won't volunteer criticism I hope you understand. Besides I'm sure you write ten times bette rthan and I so I would not be a good judge lol. See you in the blogosphere!

  70. Hi Robert (and everyone else too!) -

Sorry I've been such a dud thus far....I'd like to remove my name from my group at this time (sorry guys, it's nothing personal!). I'm hitting a wall with my poetry lately, and these summer days are overflowing with kid-dom. Sadly, I just have nothing to contribute at this point. I'm keeping my pen active nightly, in my notebook, and hope you will be able to re-place me when I come back from "vacation" - I'm shooting for the start of school in September.

Until then, I will continue to check in and read all the goodies these wonderful groups of poets have come up with!

Thank you for putting together such a wonderful site. I truly look forward to being a part of it in the not-so-distant future.

    - Dina

I would love to be added to the Poets United community of poets. I write a lot of Haiku, and poetry of differing styles, personal, observational and sometimes terrible. lol It would be great to get feedback from other poets and writers with the same interests.

    Thank you

I found out about this site through jingle's blog.

About me and my site: I have started to write poetry many times, but the energy never lasted very long. I put up a blog for fun, and hoping that it would help me persevere. Jingle's site introduced me to a circle of writers who also read. So I am now writing and reading regularly. I look to post one or two poems a week. I think your structuring of small writing groups is a great concept.

Robert, thanks so much for your invitation to join Poets United. I am in my 50s, and have only been writing poems for a about a year, mostly in the last 3 months. If I have to say who I write like, I guess it would be a combination of Gary Snyder and Bukowski. However, at times I feel Whitman coursing through my veins. Whether my poems are good or bad, I just like to write. It does cleanse the soul. I would love to communicate with other poets. Once again, thanks for this great opportunity.

Ola, tudo bem - My name is Richí and....I've been writing poetry since the age of seven. It serves as a medium that I bleed out some of the bad, and good blood- that I draw from life's oxygen. All of my poetry is inspired by everyday occurrences, at the most spontaneous moments (hence why it's 6:36 am and I'm still awake lol). The blogging went hand in hand, served as a, diary if you will; people got interested, so I took it upon myself to share my life/art with the world. This site looks promising, and I'd like to be apart of the community.

My blog is newer than yours and I update several times a week. Although, now that things are up and running, I would like to update more frequently. I write poetry, vignettes, fiction, non-fiction, and more. I started creative writing over 25 years ago. 108. Dear She, I have put her here amongst the masses. Welcome to Poets United. I have added you to our Blogroll and a group. But before I go further I shall explain the groups concept. When you join not only do you get placed on our blogroll but you also are placed into a small 4 person group. A home if you wnat to think about it that way. We would like it if you became a regular visitor to your groups blogs. Its no more than 3 people so its not a huge undertaking. The idea is to foster some regualr support for your poetry and maybe introduce you to new people. What your group does with this is up to its members. Some are great interactive groups who are constantly commenting and supporting each other. Others are just simple and courteous stopping in every so often. You of course can explore further but we just figure it hellps the shy or new to the blogosphere folks. In my group I have 3 wonderful folks who I visit often and always vist me. So it depends on what you do with it.

    Enough rambling from me.

I have added you to both places and be sure to check us out on Facebook. We have so much to do and see and are growing everyday so please enjoy and again Welcome!

My blog began as a suggestion from a friend who knew that I enjoyed writing yet the more I did it, the more I needed to do it. It is a place for all my writing (poetry). It is not private and the content mirrors this openness. I like to keep what I write easy to read and accessible to everyone. I figure, if it is hard to understand or comprehend than what good will it do for anyone else to read it? I realize that I will never pay my bills with poems, but reading the work of others has a powerful ability to move us all. If I ever had a goal it was to put into words what others are thinking. That is what I want to do. Glad I found your site -

  121. C. When you submit posts there are two places you can do so. The first one if you wish to select a poem of your own choice is going to the Poetry Pantry. There you just use the link tool. Place your name and the url of the post you want folks to visit and hit send. Make sure to leave a commnet to get other's attention. Second place is The Thursday Think Tank. write for the weekly prompt and post the same way with the link tool. Also if you are looking for more places to post your poetry and share the Monday train is a good place and can be found on the Explore Other communities tab in the top right of this page. I hope this helps you.

The blog is verse inspired by Love, Faith and Nature. I have no strict posting schedule but lately I've been trying to post at least once a week. Posting and reviewing cut into my actual time of composition so I tend to swing in guilt from one to the other when so occupied.

    You can call me Gnomie.

  151. Wow! What a web site, exactly what I've been looking to find (not very hard, apparently, as I stumbled on it quite accidentally). What’s not to like: so many lonely poets with beauty to express, sizzling quotes, canonical alchemy -- it's like cnn for poetry. Before I spend the better part of a week reading through your site I thought it might be best to ask for the honor of being included in your group and blogroll. Here are my vital statistics:

The poetry also shares some space with an environmental thing I'm doing with used coffee grounds, and the two seem to complement each other in a sane but different kind of way.

I've been writing and reading poetry on and off for years, but my blog is quite new. At the moment all the poetry on the blog is new, and I've had a rough year so it is mostly pretty 'heavy' but I may add some of my older poems at a later date.

my poems support me when I limp, they offer me a sturdy shoulder if I want to cry, if I feel like throwing things in a fit of rage they stand steadfast in meek surrender, they help me dump all negatives in a waste bin and move ahead.
I feel so glad to be able to share my thoughts, my observations through my writings, thanks to my blog. My blog is what I do with my grief and with my laughter. I pour them into words, pamper them with similes and metaphors and then let them be here, to be able to merge with the universe, to be into the oneness of whole human kind.

    Dear Poets United staff,
I began writing in earnest in high school. Though poetry and writing have been a part of my life ever since (and I'm 62 now), for 20 years while I raised my daughter I hardly wrote at all. Now I have picked my old habit back up and to my surprise I found all the images I had saved during those dry years are now flowing out of me. I write most days but have something finished once or twice a week. I write in the short forms of the Japanese for nature poetry often and in modern free form, using more Western techniques and sensibility. Some is lyrical, some is confessional and some is spiritual
I am new to blogging and I am trying to understand. I like the idea of the small groups. I do want to read other poets. I enjoy the sparks of creativity I see in others' work. This is a very fertile site for poets to find inspiration from so many talented writers.
Thank you for taking the time to manage this site. Your efforts are much appreciated.
