Poetry Blog of the Week (23 August, 2010) - Beyond the Bozone

Beyond the Bozone - Brenda Warren shares her life through her poetry. She allows us all an intimate view of her world through her wonderful and sometimes eye opening words. When visiting Beyond the Bozone you are treated to a rare and open look into a world filled with family, heritage and tradition.

Brenda’s blog is not complicated one, when you visit Beyond the Bozone, what you see is what you get and this is good thing. The writing style found here is pure and often educational. Brenda is to poetry as a sculptor is to clay. Her ability to shape her thoughts into poems so beautifully is the reason I find myself always stopping in to see her latest creation.

I am particularly fond of her works that focus on the American Indians. Although this is not singularly representative of her style, I cannot help but enjoy these poems as they seem to be each a lesson on a life or time I will never experience. One such poem is Silenced Whispers. Her description and flow nearly send you back to a time where ignorance and waste run rampant. You can see the historical march of westward expansion as if you were right there watching the buffalo fade into extinction. Sadly you can also witness a parallel with our Native Americans. If you do nothing else after reading this post, at a minimum read this amazing poem.
